Construction is officially underway!
We are thrilled to share that work has begun on the Merrimack Street Redevelopment Project, bringing us one step closer to the grand re-opening of our One Merrimack Street Branch in early 2026. As construction progresses quickly outside, our team is busy finalizing our plans for inside —designing a new, state of the art branch that brings warmth, convenience, and community connection together under one roof.
We can’t wait to return to the heart of the community, right back on the corner of Main Street and Merrimack Street, where we’ve proudly anchored Haverhill's downtown for decades.
Here’s what you can look forward to:
- A brand-new, state-of-the-art banking experience
- Our historic downtown location brought to life in a modern, reimagined space
- Plenty of parking in a newly constructed parking garage
- Two convenient drive-up lanes with 24/7 ATM access
- Comfortable office space for personal meetings with your Pentucket banker
- The same heartfelt banking experience we’ve been delivering for 133 years
Construction is moving quickly, so please keep an eye on this page for updates, photos, and milestones as we move toward our reopening.
During construction, we welcome you to visit us at any of our nearby branches—including Stadium and Westgate, both just minutes away. And with a full-service ATM available across the street at 2 Merrimack Street (by Barrio), we remain deeply rooted in downtown Haverhill, the place we have always called home.
Thank you—from the bottom of our hearts.

What is this new development?
The east end of Haverhill's historic downtown is undergoing a $160 million transformation, introducing mixed-use space that will include housing, restaurants, retail stores, public use spaces and parking. The redevelopment, named "District Square," is planned to unveil in 2025.
