When Jeff Reid purchased Hager-Richter Geoscience in 2018, it marked both the continuation of a 39-year legacy and the start of a new chapter of growth.
The company’s founder had built a respected geoscience firm specializing in supporting construction and environmental work using advanced surface and borehole technology to determine what’s underground without digging. When Jeff stepped in, the company had 14–15 employees. Today, it has grown to 21 and continues to expand nationally.
Hager-Richter operates in a highly specialized niche, serving engineering firms across the country. About 70% of their work is concentrated in the Northeast, with the remainder spanning the U.S. and even internationally. Plans are underway to open satellite offices in Nashville and Ashland, Oregon. In an industry with few competitors, the firm has grown to become one of the largest focused solely on this type of work.
